Tyisms | Boogers

I was cleaning in the kitchen when Ty brought me a Kit-Kat bar to unwrap.

We've been playing and picking back and forth all morning, so as I unwrapped it I told him, "Santa must've known these were your favorite. I told him to bring you boogers and snot because that's what you eat all the time."

Ty took the candy bar from my hands and said, "Un uh! I eat boogers but I just lick snot."

Glad we cleared that up!

Justice at its finest

One of the more interesting points of working at a jail are the stories that you come into contact with.

There are the 'stupid criminal' stories of the brainless things people do to get themselves in trouble. The stories of people who grow and learn and turn from the lives they led that landed them where they are in the first place (my personal favorites). And then there are disturbing and disgusting stories of what goes on in the penitentiary.

The only stories of the latter sort that don't bother me are the ones that involve jailhouse justice.

The kind of justice reserved for the worst-of-the-worst: Child abusers, molesters, and killers.

The kind of man who, in my opinion, deserve far worse than I can imagine the pits of hell would offer.

The kind of man who would set up a pediatric practice...a "Netherland" of sorts and use the trust that his title of Doctor would earn him to lure his patients away from their parents with the allure of toys or candy where he would then video himself sexually abusing the children.

Maybe it's just the Mama Bear in me that's coming out but for this type of person, jailhouse justice is probably the fairest, most deserving type of justice.

Fa-La-La-La-La

Just wanted to say that I love my life.

I love my child.

No matter how poor his listening and obeying seems to be at times.

I love my family.

I love how close we are and how even watching an episode of Modern Marvels on Disneyworld just feels wonderful because there's that simple intimacy of just being there and being close to them.

I love Mystery Man.

Yep.

I used the L-word.

He is so good to me.

And most importantly, he's so good to my son.

And so is his family, who I also love.

A bit early, I suppose, but they are so sweet and welcoming and I'm so thankful for how they treat me and Ty, as well.

And I love this time of year.

Even though the weather is less-than-perfect and I'm so tired I might wake up with my keyboard imprinted on my forehead, I love that this time of year is filled with smiles and hugs and good food and warm drinks and prayers and Bible Stories and love and giving and peace.

I love my life.

And everyone in it.

Tis the Season

What is it about December that makes life take off at warp speed?

Where we have fives times as much stuff to do in a tenth of the time we normally have?

Presents to be bought and wrapped.

Desserts and foods and goodies to be made and devoured.

Hot chocolate to be sipped and enjoyed.

Movies to be watched. Because everyone has that one favorite holiday movie that defines the {Christmas Season}.

{Let me note here, I don't think I have ever be accused of being 100% politically correct and to keep with tradition, on this blog the Christmas Holidays will be referred to as such. In my book, the general term of "Holidays" is for encompassing Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years, not for removing the sanctity of Christ from Christmas.}

There's something about December.

Throughout the month I will feel or experience almost every feeling I've ever felt before.

Joy.

Love.

Peace.

But also hurt, loss, and depression.

Because it's the time of year when we think about those we're blessed to have in our lives.

And those we're blessed to have in our memories.

And we give to those who remain.

We give gifts from stores, gifts from our kitchens, and gifts from our hearts.

We give and we give and we give.

Because we have been given so much.

I have been given so much.

My Savior, whose birth and life and death should be celebrated year round!

My family.

My health.

My son.

My sweet precious son.

And this man.

Because he makes me smile and laugh and love every little thing about my life.

Okay, so maybe I loved everything about my life before he came along.

But I notice myself doing it more often these days.

I have so much to be thankful for.

{Merry Christmas} to each and every one of you!

Tyisms: On bras...

After changing into my pajamas for the night, I was in the laundry room folding clothes when Ty came in and was talking to me.

He picked up one of my bras off the dryer and asked me if I took my boobs off.

It's official....

They say it's not official until it's "Facebook Official".

So, I guess if it wasn't official before, it is now.

{{grins}}

Speaking of "Facebook Official", thought I'd share a cute little video with you guys that I found a week or so ago.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Counting Down

The hardest part about Christmas, for me, was always the wait.

When I was little I never quite knew exactly how long it was until Christmas....just that it couldn't get here fast enough.

So I wanted to do something for Ty so he could physically see how long was left until Christmas, and hopefully stifle the multi-times-daily question of "How many days till Christmas".

So this is what I did yesterday.

Almost too late. But not quite.

So I pulled up Fireworks (since I'm too poor for Photoshop!) and designed something similar to a C9 Christmas light bulb and numbered them in varying colors.

After printing twenty-five light bulbs it was time to start cutting.

And cutting and cutting and cutting.

At one point I wanted to just chunk it because my fingers were falling off, but Ty was sitting there with this cute little look of anticipation on his face.

And pretending to snap pictures of me while I worked.

After cutting out the light bulbs, I wrote different things on the back of each bulb that we'll do on that day when we take the bulb off the string.

Such as:

Drink hot chocolate with marshmallows
Read the Christmas Story
Watch a movie together
Wear mittens and gloves (He loves wearing his winter-gear around the house)
Make Christmas Cards
Make popcorn garland for the birds
Make Christmas cookies
Paint, color, or draw together

Just fun little things that we can do together.

After that was done he handed me each bulb and we taped them to the string.

He was so proud and spent the rest of the evening counting all twenty-five light bulbs!

I fell in love

While shopping in Target with Mystery Man on Saturday I fell in love.

Or lust at the very least.

With these.....

Love the hat, too, but I've never been much of a hat wearer.

Such cuteness should not be allowed to exist.

Or it should exist within my budget.

Fortunately, my super-wonderful boyfriend was able to talk me off the ledge.

Oh wait, did I say that?

Well....Ty said Mystery Man was my boyfriend, and I'm told if Ty says it, it must be the truth.
